Baker/Cake decorator
3-4 days a week incl. weekends
We are looking for an individual who can help run our kitchen along with our lead baker, and the help of owners Jack and Laura.
Skills and responsibilities include baking cakes, stacking layer cakes, fulfilling celebration cake orders, piping, making curds/compotes, rolling and baking cinnamon buns.
Flexi-hour details:
With a busy summer coming up, we are looking for someone with a degree of flexibility - we need at least 3 days covered, Saturday's/Sunday's and a week day. We can offer 4-5 days in the summer if you want the hours, but can only guarantee 3 days in the quiet weeks of winter. This is a year round position, or at least until January.
If you are interested but need more information, or can only commit to something similar, reach out - we are somewhat flexible!
Ideally a candatite will already have experience baking and stacking layer cakes, however we are able to teach this if you are willing to learn and have an eye for precision. ​​​

What we can teach you:
- How to stack and ice cakes, Two Islands style.
- Our recipes and techniques
- Hygiene/allergy control

What we cannot teach you, but is required for the role above all else:
​
- A team player who is open to being taught/being given direction
- Some artistic flair - you don’t need to come up with the recipes but you do need to execute the vision!
- Precision and accuracy - needed when decorating cakes.
- Willing to get your hands dirty - washing up is just a part of kitchen life
- Some flexibility - some days are so busy, and some days are not - we are a seasonal location.
- Work with speed and efficiency.
- Understand the importance of allergy/ hygiene control, and implement our standard of keeping them.
- Some professional baking experience is preferential - we can teach the finer details.
What the role looks like:

​25-30 hours a week, pay starting from £13.50 an hour based on experience and competence.

Ensuring our high health and hygiene procedures are implemented & adhered to

Opening shift: usually no earlier than 6am HOWEVER we are flexible - if you want to start earlier and finish earlier, that's possible.

Four week break in January

Baking cakes, stacking and decorating, prepping curds/jams, keeping on top of tidy kitchen, closing

FOH needs the occasional helping hand - individual must not mind helping their team out every now and again
